Current fuel tax credit rates
Fuel tax credit rates increased on 3 February, so don’t forget to use the new rates when you calculate your claim on your next business activity statement (BAS). The new rates are available on the ATO website now.
Members can use the simplified methods to make it easier to calculate claims and keep complete and accurate records.
Remember, registered tax agents and BAS agents can help you with your tax.

Fuel tax credits for passenger air conditioning
Remember, from 1 November 2019 fuel tax credits for fuel used to power passenger air‑conditioning units of heavy vehicles, like buses and coaches, must be claimed at the rate for ‘heavy vehicles for travelling on public roads’.
For fuel acquired before 1 November 2019, be sure to use the ‘all other business uses’ rate.
Quarterly BAS lodgers may need to use different rates in their December BAS for fuel acquired before and after 1 November.
Make the move to myGovID and RAM
From the end of March, you will not be able to use AUSkey or Manage ABN Connections (myGov account connected to your ABN) to access ATO’s online services, including the Business Portal.
You will need to use myGovID and Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) instead.
