On 30 May 2019, the Fair Work Commission handed down the determinations in its 2019 Annual Wage Review. This decision grants a 3.0% pay increase to Australia’s minimum wage reliant and modern award covered employees, to commence from the first full pay period that starts on or after 1 July 2019. The National Minimum Wage (NMW) was also increased to $740.80 per week or $19.49 per hour. This is an increase of $21.60 per week to the minimum weekly rate. This is the minimum rate of pay for an employee that is not covered by an award or enterprise agreement.
Special national minimum wage rates also exists for award and enterprise agreement free employees: with disabilities; juniors; apprentices; and trainees. The draft National Minimum Wage order can be found here.
